# Set up fees and payouts

> Register payout wallets and request Earn and Trade fee configurations from the yield.xyz dashboard, then track them to live.

Configure where yield.xyz directs your revenue and which fees are charged, from your project page in the [yield.xyz dashboard](https://dashboard.yield.xyz). Payout wallets and fee configurations are separate: a payout wallet tells yield.xyz where to send revenue for a network or Trade provider; a fee configuration is what gets charged. Payout wallets need the owner or admin role; fee configurations can also be managed by an operator. See [Roles and permissions](/documentation/advanced-setup/roles-permissions).

## Register payout wallets

In **Payout wallets**, click **Add wallet** and set:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the feature">
    Select **Feature**: **Yield / Earn** (scoped to a network) or **Trade** (scoped to a provider, such as Hyperliquid).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the destination">
    For Yield / Earn, pick the **Network**. For Trade, pick the **Provider**. Enter the wallet **Address** and an optional **Note** (up to 50 characters).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the wallet">
    Click **Add wallet**. One wallet can be registered per project and network for Yield / Earn, and per project and provider for Trade.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  A payout wallet tells yield.xyz where to direct revenue; it is not read at transaction time and holds no balance of its own. It is not a withdrawal balance and nothing accrues inside yield.xyz for you to withdraw from it. For an Earn fee configuration, yield.xyz sets the fee recipient when it activates the configuration; confirm the recipient with yield.xyz if you change wallets. See [Payout wallets](/documentation/advanced-setup/dashboard/payout-wallets).
</Note>

<Warning>
  The Perps API does not read Trade-scoped payout wallets. A Hyperliquid builder fee is paid to the builder address set on the Trade fee configuration itself, described below, not to a payout wallet.
</Warning>

## Request an Earn fee configuration

In **Fee configuration**, select the **Yield** tab and click **Add fee configuration**:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the yield">
    Choose an enabled yield. Only yields with fees enabled in their metadata appear.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set the fee inputs">
    The form only shows the fee types that yield supports: **Management Fee (in BPS)**, **Performance Fee (in BPS)**, **Deposit Fee (in BPS)**. Each accepts 1 to 5,000 bps.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Submit">
    Click **Add fee configuration**. This creates the configuration in a pending state; yield.xyz deploys the fee contracts before it can go live.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Performance fees above 2,000 bps (20%) are never charged, regardless of what you enter. Agree your target fee levels with yield.xyz; see [Monetization](/documentation/earn/monetization) for how each fee type is charged and settled.
</Warning>

## Configure a Trade fee (optional)

In **Fee configuration**, select the **Trade** tab. This is only available for a provider whose enabled features include **Perps Fee Config**; otherwise the dialog reports that fee configuration isn't available for that provider yet.

Set:

* **Builder fees (bps)**: 1 to 10 bps.
* **Builder address**: read-only once a configuration exists; yield.xyz sets it when the configuration goes live.

<Note>
  To activate builder fees, the designated address must hold at least 100 USDC in its Hyperliquid account. Builder fees are paid directly by Hyperliquid to the builder address; they are not routed through payout wallets or settled by yield.xyz. See [Trade monetization](/documentation/trade/monetization).
</Note>

## Track status

| Product | Statuses |
| - | - |
| Earn fee configuration | `REQUESTED` → `PROCESSING` → `LIVE` |
| Trade fee configuration | `REQUESTED` → `LIVE`, or `DISABLED` |

An Earn fee configuration only takes effect once it's `LIVE`: transactions for your project's API keys then route through the fee contracts. A Trade fee configuration needs both a builder address and a builder fee before it can go `LIVE`.

## Verify

Once a fee configuration shows `LIVE` in the dashboard, run an enter action for the affected yield (or a Perps action for the provider) and confirm the fee split in the resulting transaction; see [Enter and exit flows](/guides/earn/enter-exit-flows).
