Stake TAO on Bittensor to the root network or to an individual subnet. Both yields require a validator (hotkey) and a subnet ID; the ID’s value is what distinguishes root staking from subnet staking.

Yields

Key facts

Enter and exit

Both yields take amount, a required validatorAddress (the validator’s hotkey), and a required subnetId. Root staking only accepts subnetId 0; subnet staking only accepts a subnetId greater than 0, and the request fails if the ID does not match the yield’s scope. Exit follows the same arguments and settles immediately since neither yield has an unbonding period.
